Dannis Mitchell is a commercial real estate and construction industry executive with over 20 years of experience, specializing in supplier diversity and strategic sourcing. As Sr. Director of Community Engagement at Barton Malow, a national commercial construction firm, she oversees supplier diversity and workforce development initiatives, forming key partnerships across the U.S. Dannis has played a pivotal role in ensuring that large-scale development projects connect meaningfully with the communities they impact, by fostering growth for diverse suppliers and promoting equity in the skilled trades.

Her innovative initiatives, like the Barton Malow Boot Camp and Motor City Contractor Fund (a collaborative initiative co-created by Barton Malow, Gilbert Family Foundation, and Invest Detroit, are aimed at empowering small and minority-owned construction businesses through capital, mentorship and technical assistance) foster an inclusive and equitable ecosystem for business and workforce.

Dannis is a University of Michigan graduate and licensed commercial real estate advisor. She has received numerous recognitions including Crain’s Detroit 40 under 40, Notable Women in Commercial Real Estate and Notable Women in Construction, Architecture and Design. She has also been recognized by the Michigan Chronicle and received the Detroit Free Press Dave Bing Shining Light Award. Additionally, Dannis has completed the Harvard Business School Young American Leaders Program(YALP) and Cinnaire WE Build Real Estate Development Program.
