Mrs. Fountain works to Build a Better Way at The Weitz Company, a large general contractor with 160+ years of building history, through procurement and DEI. Fountian is working to find ways for trade focused businesses to Win with Weitz. As general contractor of the award winning, Kansas City International airport terminal expansion, Weitz has exceeded diverse supplier pend goals in addition to The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority GOAA work finishing up currently and stands as the largest small and divers supplier spend federal transportation project on record. Since joining the leadership team, Fountain has helped increase the company’s ethnic diversity by more than 13%, partnered to grow small business spend to exceed $330m and continued to advance the supplier diversity program.
Prior to joining the construction industry, Fountain led a global financial firm’s social equity plan efforts, supporting the team in doubling the number of W/MBE (women / minority business enterprises) the company supported and collaborated with the investment team to secure a $61m bond directly supporting ethnically underrepresented owned business.
For more than 15 years she’s used her talents and resources to improve the lives of others personally and professionally. From public to private sector work, community remains at the core of Fountain’s identity. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Drake University and Master of Communications from University of Iowa. The construction industry can lead the way in advancing economic equity in our world and Shekinah Fountain is proud to be apart of a team doing just that – one project at a time.
